I am not sure short of doing what I did (complete rebuild), and keeping your valve clearances right.. I bought the car with 5500 miles on it. I had 13k on mine when it failed. Even if one of the lifters didn't, the cam bearings were shot due to the valve spring pressure ( so I was told). I went with the hydraulic cam, lifters, lighter vavle springs, push rods, and cast dist gear. One thing I questioned ( I am no expert), was the lifter clearance @ 25 thousands hot. That seems a little much. My cam was showing signs of wear on about half of the lobes. I talked with one of the techs at Ford Racing that was great (Marty). HE is a good one to talk to for tech help.
