FWIW, I have applied an adhesive backed, vinyl sheet chip guard used as OEM on Porsche 930's.
It has a very fine textured, satin black surface. It cleans easily and has great sheen with any non-silicone rubber dressing. I use 303.
It's easy to trim a Cobra compatible shape within the 930 shape and handles the compound curves well.
Mine has been on for 13 years. Looks brand new and I throw Hoosier stones at it.
Maybe the only downside is you can get about 14" up from the bottom edge -about half your door height.
