Default A good mechanic is a pearl of great price

Actually, I found TWO Godsent mechanics... about a mile from my house at my Ford dealership! Searched a 75-mile radius for a mechanic that would work on a Backdraft, and these two young lions were right in my back yard!

BDR #139 had flaws from mile one, hey, these cars are hand-built half a world away, and my Texas engine at 1100 miles was ready for... all kinda stuff.

Anyhow, Mech 1 is still tweaking that bloody Holley carb, secondaries have never opened due to a vacuum leak from the factory. Fixed. He is trying to find the perfect timing curve for 91 Octane pump gas, all I can get here.

OMG, a 351W two-barrelled Cobra that has smoked 4 Vettes!

You didn't read that.

He also replaced leaking exhaust manifold gaskets with copper-insert gaskets.

Mech 2 just took my entire pedal assembly out and... remanufactured it, I guess.

Throttle pedal now offset to the left 1/2 inch to better fit my 12 EEE's.

Brake pedal offset 1/2 inch to the left, same reason.

Oh, he also took the assembly home and deep-blue anodized it.

He thought it would "look nice" with the paint job.

Jeez.

He also fabricated a support bracket for the center of the horizontal shaft that carries all three pedals, next time I do something stupid and nail the brake and clutch at the same time with all I've got nothing will "give."

I like that. I do stupid things a lot.

I can drive Gunrack with my right shoe on, now.

They are replacing the plastic oil pressure line with copper, already replaced the O'Reilly's rebuilt alternator with Ford factory.

They decided my "factory" BDR battery was a wimp, big-boy is now in place.

Made some wiring changes, high engine temps don't mess with the charging system anymore.

They are exploring options on the exhaust slip-joint thing.

Hey, look, I'm a fat old bald guy with failing eyesight. I can't do this kinda stuff anymore.

These two horses love my little blue car and love working on it.

They love that they can actually "work" on it, instead of replacing modules.

I'm paying Ford dealer shop rates...

But things are getting DONE!

I get the female dog back tomorrow, with luck.

Boudy, how are you, my friend?

I miss you.
