JAM1775 and Clay:
Actually Clay, the 500hp IS measured from the rear. ALL cars are measured today as "BHP" (brake HP) which is through the mufflers (a more honest measurement) versus the old way of measuring HP in the 60's from the flywheel.
Todays HP figures are much more "real" than what you saw the 60's musclecar ratings were.
