I have a variety of components in my engine assembly, not exactly what you are indicating but close enough I guess.
1968 427 SO block, SCAT 428 crank(9000 series), Eagle connecting rods, Diamond racing pistons, Dove roller rockers, Edelbrock RPM Peformer FE heads, Blue Thunder DQ intake etc.
I just kept my "shopping eye" on the ball. When what I believed to be one of the better qulaity components (or close to it) was available, at the right price, I would pull the trigger. It took a few more months to bring it all together but I managed to save some bucks for other needs.
I sourced the purchases through a wide variety of suppliers, even got lucky enough to find a set of original Shelby valve covers at a garage sale.
I found a lot of sources just by talking to the guys on this website, tons of info if you ask. If interested I can turn you onto my crank and piston supplier, all NIB with mfg. warranties etc. The supplier was recommended by another CC member, ended up saving a little over $250 from usual listings on that purchase alone. Putting these parts together really adds up in a scary fast kind of way, if you know what I mean.
Good Luck.
