My block has no casting number or ribs. It does have a date code 8k23. Also 66-427 on back with a big C cast into it. Also an X in the lifter valley with 47 under it. The front has 68 352 on it. Don't know if it has 428 cast in the freeze plug hole.

What does the big C on back and the X in the valley mean? Anyone know?
