Exclamation Reptile Roundup info thread.....

Here is a "copy" of the letter that is being sent to all DSCC members next week.
I'm off to the printer on Monday....

Reptile Roundup IV
November 10th - 13th 2005

I am very happy to announce the 4th Annual Reptile Roundup is just around the corner.
November 10th ~ 13th 2005.

This years event includes a Drivers School, Cobra Tech seminar, Open track event, Car Show, Garlit’s Drag Racing museum Cobra goodies raffle, Poker Run, 2-day mobile Dynamometer, Banquet Dinner, DSCC Annual meeting, Antiques Cruise and Farewell breakfast.

I apologize for not being able to control the weather…. so to do my best at creating a more comfortable climate we are renting a number of 20’ X 20’ shelters for the car show on Saturday. I hope that this will provide a more temperate setting for us to “hang” out during the car show at Garlit’s museum.

Please visit our web site (www.deepsouthcobraclub.com) or the DSCC section of www.clubcobra.com for more information about this year’s event, schedules, hotels, maps and other Roundup related stuff. You can always contact me directly if you have any questions of comments. president@deepsouthcobraclub.com

Thursday: 11/10/05
Cobra driver’s school (Gainesville Raceway).

This will be a day of Classroom and Track based Drivers Education and Instruction to help you learn to drive your Cobra safer and faster. This is also a way to learn the "fast" way around GIR. No experience required. Novice or experienced drivers welcome.

Thursday evening Cobra Tech Seminar (7-10pm @ Hampton Inn).
Ever wonder how adjusting your ride height affects your Cobra’s handling? Wonder what those adjustable shocks really do? Do you know how to set up your car up according to a certain track? Air fuel ratio? Correct tire pressure? Do you know how to change the jets or tune your carburetor….? All this and much, much more! Join us Thursday night and learn some performance tricks to get more venom out of your snake. The more you learn, the safer and better prepared you are as a driver (not only on the track, but on the streets).

Friday: 11/11/05
Open track event (Gainesville Raceway).

If you haven't been, you don’t know what you are missing. Can you back up all that trash talking from Thursday night? Who’s going to be the “King of Gainesville”?
GIR is an excellent track to hone your driving skills and prepare yourself for tracks like Sebring, Roebling, Homestead. etc. Each turn is a new challenge and certain to thrill. Come out and join us as we tear up some pavement. Don’t feel threatened… this is also an introductory event for the new guys… you can go as fast or as slow as you wish. We just want you out there enjoying your snake in a safe environment.

Mobile Dynamometer:
While you are waiting for your turn on the track, strap your snake down to the mobile dyno and lets see how venomous your Cobra "really" is. A mobile dynamometer will be open for business for two days (Fri-Sat) at the ‘05 Roundup. ($75.00 for 5 pulls).

Friday evening meet and greet party (Microtel Inn Ocala):
Gather around the trailer as we kick off the 4th annual Reptile Roundup. There is no cost to attend the Meet and Greet party. Dinner and refreshments are on us!
Join us at the Microtel in Ocala, kick back and help us kill a keg of beer and dine on some delicious food.

Saturday: 11/12/05
Car show at Don Garlit’s Museum of Drag Racing

Be a part of the largest Cobra gathering in the South East.
Last year we almost had 90 Cobras.. this year I know we will easily exceed 100. However, we cannot do it without YOU. Please pass the word to all your Cobra friends.
The Dynamometer will be back for the second day so if you missed your chance to measure your snakes potency, get strapped in. ($75 for 5 pulls)
There will also be a caricature artist on hand so you can take home a nice memento of this year’s event. Lets not forget the personal museum tours courtesy of the legendary Don Garlits! A handful of Cobra vendors, Kit Car builder, Classic Motorsports, Fast Fords magazine and Dream Car Garage will also be present at this years show. How can you not attend?

Saturday afternoon (3:30 – 6:30 Ocala area / Nat’l Forest Poker Run).
One of the best parts of the Roundup…. a 3 hour cruise around Ocala and the surrounding area. Buckle your seatbelts, be sure you bring along some cold drinks, a camera and some good luck.

Saturday evening banquet dinner and DSCC Annual Meeting.
Diner will follow Poker Run. To be held in the Ocala area. Location TBD.
Following dinner, we will conduct our DSCC annual meeting, 2006 officer elections and discuss ideas for future events.

Sunday: 11/13/05
Group Breakfast and Cobra Cruise II

Any stragglers left??? Many of us owe our wives a huge thanks for putting up with us for the past three days so after breakfast hop in your snake and cruise with us to Historic Micanopy for some antique shopping and lunch in downtown Micanopy before your trip back home. Have a safe trip home and we look forward to seeing you at future DSCC events.
