I'm using a 1995 5L windsor, I came to the same problem when wanting a nonmal rotation pump. I have fitted a 351 cleveland (older style pump) bolted straight to the late model 5L timing cover. Bolt pattern was the same, however I modified the sandwich plate to open up the coolent ports a little more. Had to make 1 new gasket to fit the modified sandwich plate... thats all, no leaks.
And port matched with a die grinder, this bit was me being fussy.
