Classic Roadsters Suspension & Wheel Suggestions..
Hello,
My brothers and I recently completed a CR kit first started by my one brother in 1992. Is has the "Standard" suspension setup with the front and rear sway bars, cheap auto parts store shocks, etc.
I plan to use the car for some "Cruising" as well as track and autocross events. I don't mind setting the car up more for the track than the street (i.e. a rough ride is OK with me). The motor is a 408CI Clevor with 2V heads and a T-56 trans.
I have read soome of the threads here, but I still want to ask these questions....
1) What is the recommended setup for front springs/shocks. I prefer a coilover setup so that ride height and cornere weighting can eb adjusted. Adjustable "performance" shocks would be nice as well. Recommended spring rates?
2) Front A-Arms: Any suggestions? I have the standrd upper/lower stamped arm with the lower strut. I read about a place that makes something to adress the upper A-Arm moving and changing the alignemnt problem.
3) Any rear suspension suggestions? Is there a decent bolt on adjustable shock that will work with the existing spring setup (that has the jack bolts), or is a "coilover" setup recommended. Spring rates?
4) How big front and rear wheels/tires can I use. The rear end is a narrowed 9" Ford. I do nto remember how much it is narrowed - will have to look that up....
So far the car has run great. We finished it at my brother's house in Oregon in May - dropped it off the jack stands and started the next day on a 3200 mile cross country trip to the Atlanta area. A great road trip!
