Question Wanted: Portable Air/Fuel Ratio meter

Is there a portable (and let's add affordable...say under $400) air/fuel ratio meter that does NOT require tapping a hole and installing a bung for the sensor? I'm thinking of those pipe sniffers that the smog guys attach to your tailpipe with a spring clip, but in a compact, hand-held readout?

Everything I see on the market requires a hole and welding. There are exhaust temperature gauges, but that only gives you a rough estimate if a cylinder is running rich (low temp) or lean (high temp).

Yeah, I know a quick trip to a chassis dyno would be cheaper, but I'm a serious DIYer and love to tinker. I really think there is a market for this type of device. Thanks for any links or insight!
