M-6007-D347DSR Crate Motor
Well, this is a sealed crate motor for oval track racing. However, it is very similar to the 347/450hp offered as $6800 list motor. This motor is $7100 list.
Both have the Ford forged 4340 crank, Z304 heads, Victor JR intake, MSD distributor. The rods are SCAT 4340 forged I-beams. The pistons Mahle flattops.
The cam is a milder Ford grind, 226/226 114lsa advanced 5 deg, .528 lift with the included 1.65 rockers. Small enough to be streetable and wild enough for a slight rumpa-rumpa.
However (and this is the important however), it uses the R302 block with 4-bolt mains vs. the B50 Sportsman block with 2-bolt mains. The crank is zero balanced, using a 351 balancer with the external balance weight removed and has an SFI rating. The Mahle pistons have a 1.5/1.5/3.0mm ring set. The head uses a 'revised stud location for improved geometry' and a different '6516' beehive spring.
Since this is supposed to last most of the season for the ASA and several tracks where it is the crate motor, presumably the changes are for increased reliabilty.
For the small price increase over the other crate engines, it seems like a good deal.
