priobe, you can put a PCV valve in either of the valve covers or in the rear, it doesn't matter. I believe I've seen the wire baskets HSSS427 shows on ebay for somewhere around $50, which I think is ridiculous. Obviously if that's the only thing that works for you it's worth the money. From my experience, it depends on what you're doing with your car...roadracing puts more stress on the system, often needing a "puke tank" for excess
oil to be collected in. Street driving shouldn't need anything more than a PCV valve. You can put a flat plate over the hole in the back of the intake and the PCV valve in a valve cover. The valve covers should also be baffled, and most are, with tin.
Strictly speaking, you don't even need a PCV valve; but the PCV valve collects the blowby and mixes it with the fuel charge. Oh, and yes, I ran a hose off the top of the PCV into the carb baseplate (straight vacuum, not ported).
