Default Fun Run 2006

Route 66 Fun Run 2006.

Please excuse the rambling writing style.

We started out with 5 Vettes, 1 66 Mustang and 8 cobras. We met up with Cobras number 9 in Chino Valley and 10 in Williams.

Approaching Chino Valley we had our first almost disaster when Stuart ran over something large and metal in the highway. Paul, just missed it. Nothing major on Stuarts car just some new scratches on his oil pan. Stopped for fuel and a rest in Chino and found my radiator had sprung a leak. Bummer. Stuart went ahead to find a parts store to get some alumaseal. During this time we discussed just getting a new radiator and installing it there, if the sealant did not work. The alumaseal did its job. Off to Williams to check in to the motel and get some grub.

We had originally told everyone dinner would be at 7pm. Ginny changed the time to 6 so we had some late stragglers. Bob and M, kept commenting all weekend ... You tell us one time, then change it... We had dinner at Max and Thelmas..Food was much better than the previous place we used.

The weekend was full of laughter and good times. Some one was trying to test the 4 day on 1 pair of underwear theory, but she made me stop at Kmart for extras.

At breakfast Saturday morning one of the ladies accidentally flashed everyone... That was good for lots of needling.

The trip from Williams to Seligman was uneventful and cold. We registered for the run and got in line. Everyone went their seperate way as usual for this trip. About noon most met up in Kingman at the motel. We signed in. Jim was picking on Ginny about the undies thing, the lady behind the counter wanted to put Diane in Stuarts room...Mostly they confused the poor gal. We got a great rate there....

Off to the curise in on Route 66. Route 66 is closed down for about 1 mile in Kingman for the show and shine portion of the trip. When we got there all spaces were full and were re-directed to the Grass field to park. This was
great. The grass is cooler and we parked next to a nice shade tree. Over 850 cars were registered for the run this year.

Saturday night was Pizza night at the local Pizza Hut. The conversation was loud and varied, the obligatory spit ball throwing started almost immediatley. As one would guess targets included the drinks and lowcut t-shirts. Back
at the motel we held our usual round table discussions of just about everything. For their protection we invited other guests staying in our section of the motel to join us..... Don decided to go to bed early, but did not remember what room he was in. We told him. Some how his key did not work on the door. Jo was yelling and screaming at the TV. She is an avid Suns fan. When the gane was over and the Suns won, she collapsed in a heap of sweat on the floor.

Sunday AM. We found out that Patti had left her purse at the pizza place. Fortunatley they found it and stored it in the safe. Paul's car would not start, The pit crew came to the rescue. We asked Don what is room number was? He got it wrong again. Some went on to Oatman and others drove home. I chose to return early as I did not trust the radiator, made it home without incident.

Weekend casulties...

Paul.... battery
Mike .... Radiator
Fitz... Side pipe
Tom ... Cell Phone
Patti .. Purse.
Bob B.... Broken Headlight.
Bob P. Left credit card at fuel stop

Looking forward to next year.

Mike
