d smith, might want to be careful using the temp plates which are not allowed on a Composite in CT. The DMV inspectors may ( ? ) ask questions when you have the out of state inspection performed and they notice the temp plates.
I also was able to obtain temp plates for a legally registered and titled out of state Cobra when paying the sales tax and just asking for the Temp plates as the out of state title and registration indicated a 1966 Ford. The out of state paperwork was all legal, for that state, and had not been prepared by a Title company.
However, using the temp plates for the CT out of state inspection did not work and I had to go the Composite route and follow all the requirements. DMV Inspectors immediately recognized the Cobra as a composite/kit car. Fortunetly, my explanation on how I obtained the temp plates was accepted, i.e., not knowing CT would not accept the out of state registration and title for inspection and registration.
