I thought i read the regs and put all the 88 engine controls and computer. The dmv website says engine swap must meet the polution controls and emmissions of the engine age. Silly - I did not think about the exhaust direction.
The BAR ruling is the exhaust direction and lay out are part of the polution control system. I verified this with the BAR tec hotline in the riverside field office and the sacromento number.
The other issue is the ffr kit did not come with a ca carb number or certificate with the cats. So they may not have passed it - even if direction is not an issue
go figgure - the goal is reduced emmissions and logic would tell you that a vehicle with cats - smog pump - engine controls would polute less than a carb only straight pipe - but this is the govt we are dealing with.
