First of all, The edlebrock is not the way to go. Wieand has the Stealth 8012 that, lets just say is light years better than the edlebrock. Doule plain good from idle to 7200 RPM. Keep the heads, go with a holley 750 vacum or mechanical, nothin fancy. I used Crane Gold roller rockers and a 1.70 ratio (instead of a 1.73) just fit better. The roller rockers are pretty much standard so go with those or something simmilar. You could put a 460 crank and pistons, I think the rods are the same, more cubes. Make sure you know if it's internally or externally balanced. I think the thunderjet is internally. May have to use different pistons for todays gas and comp ratio. I reccomend an Iske cam because they are made from stronger material. watch out though for the tourque converter with the bigger cam.
