I purchased the Sandwich adapter with the thermostat. It doesn't cool until it reaches temp & I have no clearance issues with a special Wix oil filter. My Cooler , Mocal, is also a bit smaller than the unit supplied by ERA & the ones seen on most of the early comp cars.
