I had a shop change my series 1 calipers to series 3 calipers. Dunlops, Girlings I don’t know. But there was grinding involved. The grinding was to center the caliper on the rotor. That doubled the pad area but didn’t make any difference in stopping. Sounds like what you want to do. I can take pictures if you want.
