Default Tragic news - Johnny Thomas

From Don Arnold :

SCAT members,
We received sad news this morning that Johnny Thomas, our 2006 Vice President, has passed away in a car accident. He was working in South Texas Saturday when apparently a car crossed the medium and hit Johnny's car and another car. The accident happened near Pearsall, TX around 6:00 PM Saturday afternoon. As we get more news we will let everyone know. Johnny was a special person and had many friends who will miss his humor and friendship. As a club member and officer of SCAT he was part of our family. Johnny was very active in both the Shelby Cobra Association of Texas and the North Texas Mustang Club. He was a genuine Ford enthusiast and especially loved his Shelby's and Boss cars. Johnny was willing to help anyone that needed a part or had a problem with their car. We have lost a true friend who will be greatly missed.

Don
Shelby Cobra Association of Texas President

Johnny Thomas was 56 years old, and a very active member of the North Texas Mustang Club and Shelby Cobra Assn of Texas. He bought a 2001 Mustang GT Bullitt the same month I did. We showed our cars together. He traded his in in 2003 for a Mustang Cobra, and regretted it ever since. Every time he saw my Bullitt he commented on how he wished he'd kept his. He has a huge collection of cars including a 2003 Mustang Cobra, an original 1967 Shelby GT500, 1969 Mustang Boss 302 (driver), 1970 Mustang Boss 302 (show car), a very rare Ford Cyclone with 428 police interceptor engine, and a lot full of other Mustangs waiting restoration including a rare 1968 Shelby GT500 Super Cobra Jet. (I could have some of these cars wrong, but i'm going by memory, and kind of shakey and upset at the moment...) Johnny helped me many, many times diagnosis car problems, even would call me back and follow-up on the progress - many times when he was on road working. He traveled full time with his job as an insurance fraud investigator, driving a Saturn which he was driving Saturday night when killed by a wrong-way driver.

I will miss you my dear friend.
