I have always thought the balance was either internal (crank & bob weight) , having the damper and flywheel being "0" and having no imbalance effect, or external (sometimes called Detroit balance) consisting of Damper, (balancer weight), crank & bob weight, & flywheel only, in this case with the damper and flywheel each having some effect or imbalance. My understanding was the clutch pressure plate was always "0" balanced by the clutch manufacturer so it would not affect the pre determined balance of the engine, regardless of which balance type was utilized. Is this correct???
