I remember those days too from when I was a kid. We didn't know what "child safety seats" were. I remember I would always ride either on the rear window shelf or on the center front armrest. I suppose I would have just been a projectile if we hit anything.
We just took this car to Church. I picked up my 87 year old dad and we went for a real "Sunday drive" around the lake.
These cars are so big and smooth. You can hardly hear the engine running, the old type power steering (before it was progressive "power assisted" steering) is so smooth and you can't feel the road, and the suspension wasn't designed for handling so much as being soft and comfortable. It is almost like what I think riding a "magic carpet" would feel like.
I just sold my daily driver and so I have been using this car. I have put more miles on it the last week than I have since I bought it.
The more I drive it the more I think I just might keep it as my daily driver.
Oh yes, and if you think the back seat is big, you should see the trunk.
