My bike mechanic was telling me a story about "back in the day", when he got his first 650 Bonneville. The first time he rode it, he told me, he couldn't believe the power. He thought that this was the ultimate! A buddy of his had bought a 750 Commando, but was afraid to ride it home from the dealership. He asked my mechanic if he would ride it home for him. Gus (mechanic) said sure. He got on it and his friend followed him. Gus told me that he found it unbelievable the difference between the two. He thought the Triumph was the ultimate, but after he rode the Norton, there was no comparrison.
When I was in high school, two of my buddies had Nortons. I fell in love with the Norton from that time on. I picked up my Norton about 8 yr. ago. Just love the bike. A Bonneville came up last year and I bought that. There is a huge difference between the two. If I had to make a choice I would take the Norton. It just pulls and doesn't stop. Here are a couple of pics of both.

"The 427 Cobra is easily the highest performance car ever sold for street use. A decent 427 - not the worst, not the best, will go from zero to 100 mph and back down again to zero in less than 14 seconds. All thing considered, you can put together a pretty good argument that the 427 Cobra is the ultimate performance car, judged on any basis you want to name." Taken from; Corvette, The Sensuous American
