Default DMV Reassigned my 2005 SB100 number to someone else!

So in 2004, I was part of the DMV hoard on Jan 2 and got a SB-100 number.

Due to the DMVs inability to tell me whether or not the numbers actually expire annually, I did this again in 2005 and got a 2005 SB-100 number as well.

Today, I'm finally ready for my BAR inspection. So I called the appointment desk and gave them my 2005 number. They looked it up, and to my amazement, the number was not assigned to me.

Then, I gave them my 2004 number. It was good, assigned to me, and in the record it was noted that some 5 months after I was assigned my 2005 SB-100 number they discovered I was given two SB-100 numbers for the same car and took it upon themselves to reassign my 2005 number to someone else. Nice huh?

This would seem to reinforce the notion that SB-100 numbers don't expire.

Also, they CAN be reassigned. It happened to me.

I'm just glad I didn't chuck my 2004 paperwork.
