If I recall, if you use a remote starter solenoid the main power cable goes to the big terminal and the jumper goes from the big terminal to the small (ignition) spade terminal. If you don't use the standard Ford-type solenoid, remove the jumper and hook the starter switch wire to the small spade terminal.
Blykins is right, make sure you have at least one good ground from the block to the frame (or maybe direct to the battery).
