Paul,

The yellow light on the dash is probably the fan indicator light. With the fan dash toggle switch in the "automatic" position, the fans come on as you need them.

The tailight MAY also be as simple as a loose bulb in the socket.

If you bought the car "used", contact one of the Backdraft dealers for a manual. It's not the greatest, but should help you on a lot of stuff.
