This was also mentioned over on one of the bowtie threads. In my experience with other guys, cats tend to 'mash' the noise and really help in achieving an acceptable level in side pipes.

Compression though is a real noise maker, and its difficult to quiten the 'bark' of a hi comp engine.

PhilM, is your new engine higher compression than previous?
