You are correct, the smooth hood was standard, but I'm not clear on if a scoop would have been more common as a dealer installed option, or as a from-the-factory ordered option... either way, you are correct that it was an option & I have no idea how many were factory installed (rivited) as you mention, vs glassed on... I did find one street with a riveted hood (csx 3260), but the two smooth ones make me wonder how they got that way... (making me mental) I guess if I'm going to have to keep the scoop to get the engine "right", then I want the scoop to be "right" too.

What I do have is a PI intake on 427 low-rise heads... I've not heard that is is a mis-match before. Guess I'll know for sure when I get it to Southern Automotive in the coming weeks.
