Totallly the opposite actually.
Little 4lt Lexus with side pipes sounds exactly like a big block under load & high revs down the straight. It is amazing how big they sound. See if spooky responds, as I bet his sounds the same now...big, big, big.
In the sound stakes, the Lexus has it won by a mile.
Lexus just suffers from whimpy idle, you just can't hear them, it's just so silky smooth.
Even Paul's with twin turbo's and side pipes sounded the same, you would swear it was a big block.
The Harrison I built with my brother doesn't have much sound at all, actually it's just about silent. Just over muffled, but sometimes silence is bliss when you spend most of the day on the track with it.
So little Lexus 4lt with twin turbo's and side pipes...you will have sound of a big block and even more torque than big block. And it would be the cheapest engine choice available. You just got to get over the Toyota badge.
