I tighten the spinner by hand then use a dead blow hammer and rotate the wheel and give each ear a good firm wack of the hammer, go twice around on each ear is more then enough, you can hear a pitch change when tight. Then safety wire !!

This is the method to use.
To remove do the same. Whack one ear rotate to the next and so on. They will come off. Even if it takes a lot more whacks than you think it should, they will come loose. I have a spare set of tires and wheels with slicks on them and I change my wheels often. Wheel must be off the ground to take pressure off the spinner. I use a dead blow hammer.
I can't see using the tool with the wheel off the ground.
Take the money and buy a spare set of spinners.
Worse case is you would have to destroy the spinner to get it off and you have a spare to go right back on.
