It all depends on which shift mechanism you are using. If it is stock (I doubt it), there is no reason that it can't be hooked up. Odds are though, that you have a Hurst mechinism...most are, and I believe that David Kee uses them almost exclusively because they are much better than the original style. The only drawback is that there is no provision for a reverse lockout.
That said, I have a Hurst on mine, and have never buzzed reverse. First can be difficult to get quickly, unless I go to second first on my way down. Then it's a quick flick foreward into first. That may be why I've never buzzed reverse.
