Mechanical fuel pumps mount on the side of the timing chain cover which is between the water pump and the block on a Ford "W" engine. If you want to use a mechanical fuel pump, you will have to install an older type timing chain cover as well as the ecentric to drive it. This is a pain to do without removing the oil pan as you will almost certainly screw up the pan gasket when you try to get the old timing cover off. Oh, you also have to remove the damper off the crank to be able to get the cover off.

You are probably better to stick with the electric pump.
