Glad to hear you are on the road with your license!

The orange light is the fans coming on (thermostatically controlled) it is a good thing to see it come on periodically instead of never or all the time.

That car scoots pretty good, you might need to get used to it. But you really need to take it easy for break-in. Let it warm up good before getting into it. The real fun with a 302 is over 4k RPM... but you need to let it work in (500 miles) before doing that.
