Tru, what rifle are you using. Is that the first deer he has shot at? I remember the first one I shot at. It was walking towards me and it stopped about 40 yards away. I took my shot and it started running and made it about 30 yards. I unloaded the gun (four more rounds) in the 30 yards it ran and didn't hit it other than the first shot. Boy did I feel embarrased at not hitting it any other time, but I was suprprised because I thought I hadn't hit it. It was a decent six pointer. The rack is still at my parents house.

My favorite rifle for deer is a Remington 760 Carbine pump in 30-06. Normally with a 5 round magazine and two 8 shot magazines in reserve in case I see a coyote.
