It sounds like people are running pump gas and messing up pistons. Some states have 95 unleaded right at the station, but the basic super unleaded pump gas available here in Scottsdale, Arizona is oxygenated 91. You can't run the car properly on the stuff. Just a guess, but the MSD ignition is adjusted with springs and the recall is backing off timing. I always run either 100 octane unleaded or mixed pump 91 with 110 leaded or higher. You couldn't pay me to make the car slower for convenience of using cheap gas. Just my opinion.
