Big-Boss if you go over to the FEforumn the same question was just had over there. 30 lbs between a Aluminium and steel bellhousing. If you are NEVER going over 4000 rpm and the car is orginial with every OEM part go Aluminium
All my toys have lakewood bell housing. I like walking and running as compared to putting prothesis to getting around. Get SFI parts minium if nothing else. What's the price differents between Aluminium and a lakewood?
I saw a guy in 75-76 at E-town on a weds night blow a clutch and it removed his right leg from the calf down. pieces went everywhere, metal and human, was not pretty. Buy the lakewood and keep walking over buy an automatic trans and put a blanket over it after you may loose a leg. If you are still not sure pull up the picture od Don G. with swamprat and look at the clutch exploision. If you are worried about ground clearance you cut the bottom of the bell housing. Look in ERA for where and how to remove. You will need to center the bell housing to the crank so as not to wear out the input or pilot bushing or bearing. Rick Lake
