Mine is from a 2002 XR8, obviously later model because of the 220kw, and if you were really lucky and got a T3 347? stroker then you'd have lots of fun.

However with tyranny of distance and all that, I reckon Perth would be starved of such cars. Mid 90's was E series? and about 185 kW I think. It would pay to get a whole car and use as much as possible. Ask Bobby about Ken, he lives near me, is building his 2nd GF and bought a 2004 SS ute to use.

Despite going the dark side he is using as much of the donor car as possible and has used mtr/gbox, wiring, compters steering and combi switches, fuel tank!!, much of the cooling plumbing has just fitted straight in, pedal assemblies I think and has even remodelled the heater fan box to use the std heater. He is a marvel, 2nd cobra build with no cobra contact , until me then Bobby, and he is expecting and will just plug and play.

I can't recall what he said the donor cost him, but selling off the unwanted items has brought his real expenditure for the donor down to around the $3K mark. Just my eng/box with eng wiring and computer cost about $5K so he's done real well and it would be the way I would go 2nd time around.

Perhaps you can research and buy via Fowles etc and the auctions and pay for transport to Perth. Maybe the cheapest option, else buy a going banger XR8 and scrap it for your bits! It does depend on how much capital you have to start with. A donor and bare kit is a fair initial outlay!

Let us know which way you head.

Cheers
