Hi,
I swapped out my big 460 / C6 combo for a home rebuild of a '88 302 mustang engine and a brand new PA AOD with 2,400 stall, new shortened driveshaft and home made headers, etc.
I had only run it in the garage until 2 weeks before the event, then got insurance and took it for a drive. pinged badly so my new distributor was pulled and recurved, got it back 1 week to go and took some short trips around home. So we loaded up with 85 miles on her and a fresh
oil change and hit the road for a 2,000 mile round trip to WSCB 06.
We blew a trans line 4 miles out of Susanville in the dark. So the 1st parts guy gave me gas line instead of hi pressure trans line. No matter ,we were on our way again thanks to a couple of great people in Susanville and made the Nugget the next morning.
Had to change the motor out with the small block and overdrive as the MRS refused to go that far with a BELLOWING big block revving in our ears,we were deaf for 2 days after last year, hehe.....
She was ever so pleased with the overdrive and 2 1/2 times the gas mileage.
Too much FUN, EH?
