Each authentic 289 HiPo carries a sequential number. I have tracked 16 numbers in Fairlanes. I believe that the Cobra 289 HiPos also carry this number. I am plotting these sequential numbers against the engine assembly dates. If you have one of these engines, I would like to hear from you.

Hello Bob, I am a new member to the Club Cobra. I have a restored '65 HiPo engine that will go into a Kirkham FIA car I'm building. I painted it black.
Block: C5AE-6015 E
Casting date: 5 B 10
Assembly date: 4 B 12 F !!!
Did Ford cheat by 1 year on the casting date or did rather the inspector F make a mistake? How can I find out what is right?
There is no number on the right side on the block above the
oil pan. In your book about the small block V8 engines you say this number was stamped in. On picture c, section 5A4 on page 5-9 it looks like this number is cast in.
Best regards, Jean.
