If you enjoy hard rock-n-roll and you like the Canadian group Rush, well then mine is easy to understand. "Red Barchetta" was a song they produced back in '81 about "an old machine" ("a brilliant Red Barchetta from a better, vanished time") that a tired uncle had preserved down in his barn "for fifty odd years." The story takes place in the future when driving has been outlawed. His nephew sneaks out to the countryside on Sundays and drives the snot out of the car, gets chased by some police toward the end, and comes up with a clever escape plan.
When I first heard the song, I immediately thought of a red Shelby Cobra and it was the inspiration for what I drive today. Funny how one song can change your life, huh?
