If you use a Ford Modular 4.6L engine with 03/04 Cobra Heads, Aftermarket Aluminum Block (Sean Hyland), either Whipple or Kenne Bell screw charger, Manley 4340 H-beam rods (or equivalent) a stock Cobra crank, stock cams basically stock everything except blower you will have somewhere in the neighborhood of 620 plus horsepower. The really important point is that you wiil have more than 500 lbs-ft of torque at basically 2000 rpm. Most 600+ HP engines need to get somewhere north of 4000+ RPM to produce that kind of torque.
The effect in a 2300 lbs car could be conservatively described as explosive.
Oh I forgot the only thing that is big about the package is the power and the engine physical dimensions. The power comes from an engine that weighs less (barely) than 400 lbs including the blower and the displacement is only 281 cubic inches. They start in any weather, idle repeatably and predictabily can be set up to have a rumpty rump type idle or a 03/04 blown Cobra type idle.
The other item not frequently mentioned is mileage. This is not only 620+ HP but it gets significantly north of 20mpg on the highway. While we drive these cars because they are land based rockets it's also nice when we don't have to refuel that often. After all 91/93 Octane can be expensive in large quantities, not to mention aggravating when you could be driving instead of fueling (and paying).
