I moved from SFO to Mesa last May. We live on the northeast side and love it. It is hot but, what surprises me, it's cold too. Right now you can find deals on homes in every area. You can probably find a better deal on a pre-existing "inventory" home belonging to one of the builders (new home unsold). In my neighbor the builder is offer $100,000 discounts on existing homes and $50,000 on new homes. Probably similar offers in many areas. Don't think you can get the same type deal on vacant lots.
