Can you describe your pan? Until about 2005, FRPP was selling BB Crates with an un-baffled pan that was only meant for shipping. Around 2005 they started offering the crate motors with pan very similar to Canton's Road Race pan only it is painted black. It may in fact be the Canton Road Race pan. I'm not sure.

The way to tell the difference is the old pan is a one piece stamping. It has all rounded corners and I believe the drain plug is straight out the bottom. It should NOT be used for street driving, The newer pan is a welded assembly, again, just like the Canton Road Race only painted black. The drain plug is on the side of the sump.

With the road race pan, your bellhousing should be the lowest point
