If you must use a cable (?) have the inner cable go through the lever from the front and achor on a fabricated bracket attached by the 2 bolts that attach the transmission to the bellhousing. Have the outer cable and cable end stop at the lever. When the pedal is depressed the outer cable will slide and "Push" the lever to the rear.
A hydraulic setup is a better way to go when the lever must go to rear for release.
