I have only a limited number of cars with which to base these comments, but all 4 of the 428 Cobras I have seen (or have photos of) have their original engines and one is still in the hands of the original owner. All four of them have only one carburetor on the 428 PI intake. The radiator expansion tank was Ford blue, like the engine, so that is another difference for the 428 cars. The subject of the steering wheel centers and Sunburst wheels has been discussed before and were unrelated to the switch to 428 engines, although many of the 428 cars did have Sunbursts originally. I have not examined the 427 and 428 engines with a comparison of differences in mind, but I suspect the fuel pump, alternator, and distributor are probably different as well. I don't know about the exhaust manifolds and under car exhausts, but I doubt the exhausts were different although the manifolds probably were. I'll pay attention to this next time I see unrestored original cars to see what I can determine.
