I'm not sure you understand how to make the adjustment. There is your inner tierod that goes into your steering rack, then your outer tierod. There is a nut that tightens up against the outer..loosen the nut, then hold the outer still as you turn the inner with a pair of pliers. If it's only off a quarter inch then maybe one turn on each side should do it. Assuming you are using a Ford steering rack or a Flaming River rack, then it shouldn't be an issue at all, very simple adjustment. If not, then just take it to an alignment shop, it will cost you less than $75.
