My personal opinion is gaskets look better than 'no gasket'.
It looks like you forgot something. Plus it is easy for me because I was a die cut diemaker for 40 years. I used a gasoline resistant, thick rubber to make the gasket, so even if there are imperfections, it will seal it. Plus just that faint edge of the gasket is appearant which as I said, I like!
One more of the little things that make kit cars so interesting is the touches each individual puts into their one 'honey'.
