I love these 'true confession' threads. First I've heard of a battery falling out the bottom. I hit a tree with my Jeep once (well, several trees over a period of time actually) but this one tree knocked the battery out of place. The hot lead melted on the exhaust manifold, discharging the battery SO fast it 'blew up'. Which took care of the 'short' problem immediatly and stopped the fire hazard.
