I've got a combo of both. I've got stock SVC stuff up to where the lower shafts meets the upper shaft. From there, I used a splined Boregson coupler and a splined upper shaft. I used the stock SVC aluminum column, welded a Wilwood quick release adapter to the shaft and made a hub to cover it all up. You can't tell it's a quick release unless you look close and you'll see the release button sticking through the hub.
As for the pedals, I skipped the stock SVC stuff altogether and made a floor mounted pedal box. Master cylinders face rearward for room's sake. AC pedal pads are used.
The steering is tight....no slop at all.
