From the Kirkham-specific sampling that I've seen on this site, it seems the prevailing wind is the stroked 427 S/O, whether it be an original or aftermarket.

The all-aluminum 482 seems to be a very popular choice and I'm wondering if building a complete 428CJ will get you relatively close in cost to a crate all-aluminum 482.
