Sounds like the pickup truck was STOPPED after seeing the Roadster speeding, perhaps towards him? Roadster side swipes truck hits trees, ejects passengers. In this scenario perhaps a Cobra would have offered more control, thus avoiding a collision. But in a head on, or striking a tree, I wouldn't think either car would offer any substantial protection that would make a big difference.


I recall a green Cobra accident (Ohio?) a few years ago where the female passenger wearing a four point seat belt (5 point?) was ejected and lived, the driver stayed in the car and died. Sometimes it just comes down to 'luck'.
